Our Church

Mount Rose ....

is a cross-cultural, multi-ethnic and multi-racial expression of the Body of Christ, endeavoring to the best of their ability and understanding to model God’s intent for His people in every area of life and culture. The people of Mount Rose are all about "creating a world and making a world of difference" for every tribe, race, kindred and tongue. Their passionate pursuit of the Presence of God and their hunger for both individual and corporate direct experience with God is rooted in the reality of God’s Fatherhood and incredible love, as revealed in the life of His Son, Jesus Christ.

As a result, they are passionate about living the life of the Kingdom of God. The Kingdom for them is not about what they eat or drink, it is all about their life being whole and in right standing with God and each other, having their lives well-put together by the goodness of God, living in peace of mind and heart, with unfolding joy. They endeavor to live a life that pleases the heart of the Father, and affirms the dignity and value of each other. Having experienced the incredible and irresistible grace of God and His unconditional acceptance, they accept one another also, so that with one mind and one heart they can together passionately pursue His presence and His purpose for their lives.

They value encouragement and not fault-finding, in obedience to the mandate of the Scriptures and the life of Christ. They value accountability, honesty and purity. They value the forgiveness of Christ and find refuge in His mercy. They are very aware of their ongoing need of His grace. They make no apologies for their dependence on the love of God the Father, for He is known by direct experience in their lives as the Caring Parent He promised to be. They are in love with His Son, the Lord Jesus Christ, because He modeled His love for them in His ultimate sacrifice and His ongoing love for them by His Spirit in their lives on a daily basis. They are not without challenge or crisis, yet neither are they without hope and encouragement. They value the inspiration and the authority of the Scriptures, the Finished Work of Christ and the Presence and Power of the Holy Spirit in their lives.

They understand that Christ is the cornerstone of what God is building in them as a community of believers and they also know that apostolic foundations and prophetic directives make them solid, stable, mature and relevant in the 21st century. They are not about the dead traditions of living people, having a form of godliness while denying the power of God.

They are committed to Live Life, Share Life and Save Life.

Church History

Pastor A.James Collins and Pastor Milford Kelly

In 1957, Rev. Milford L. Kelly became the pastor of the church. When he arrived the building was in need of extensive renovation and the church needed to be uplifted spiritually. Pastor Kelly was guided by the Holy Spirit to lead the church family from the Stop Six area to the Morningside area of Southeast Fort Worth.  After the move, he began working diligently on the vision the Lord had given him for the Mount Rose Church.
Under his administration he built two church facilities. The first building was constructed on the corner of Mississippi Avenue and Lowden Street. As the congregation continued to grow, Pastor Kelly received a vision from the Lord to build again.

Through divine favor and direction from the Spirit of God in spite of hostility and lack of faith from many members, Pastor erected a worship facility and learning center “second to none”.
The Lord gave him the color scheme of purple, gold and white after the order of Solomon’s temple. These colors speak of royalty, prophetic, wealth and purity. In times when most churches were with traditional colors, Mount Rose was known as “the purple church.”
By divine providence and prophetic orchestration, one of the spiritual sons, A. James Collins, preached the first sermon in the pulpit of the new building under the auspices of Pastor Kelly.
Pastor Kelly’s vision included meeting the needs of the surrounding community.
The Mount Rose Day Care Center touched many young lives, serving the community for twenty faithful years.
Pastor Kelly elected to have his spiritual son, Rev. A. James Collins to be the church’s annual revivalist. Through his relationship with his son he imparted 7 major things:

    a. Strong and anointed preaching the Word of God is the key to everything!

In December of 1999, after 42 years of dedicated life service to the Mount Rose Baptist Church, Pastor Kelly transitioned to his eternal resting place with God, the Father.

In 2000, the Mount Rose family was guided by the hand of the Lord and the mind of Christ to extend the invitation for A.    James Collins, now an experienced pastor in his own right, to   return and assume the pastorate. After much prayer and deliberation, Pastor Collins saw that it was God’s divine intent for him to take the mantle of his spiritual father and take the church to a new dimension in the Spirit.

Pastor Collins began introducing the church to praise and worship and biblical principles, while through anointed preaching and teaching painting the canvas with a fresh vision for the 21st century.

Through much travail Pastor Collins has continued transitioning the church physically and spiritually to better serve the challenges of the 21st century through media-ministry, expanding the consciousness of the community of faith to be more inclusive spiritually.
